Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what USA Student Network collects, how information is used, when information may be disclosed, and the choices available to you. The SMS privacy statement below applies specifically to text-message opt-in information and consent.

SMS privacy commitment

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

1. Overview

USA Student Network respects your privacy. This policy applies to information collected through usastudentnetwork.com, including contact and text-message sign-up forms, and describes how that information is handled. A separate written agreement or payment provider may also describe how information is handled for a particular paid engagement or transaction.

2. Information we collect

The information collected depends on the page you use and the choices you make. It may include:

  • Contact details: name, telephone or mobile number, email address, and the subject of an inquiry.
  • Information you submit: the message or details you choose to include in a contact, support, or service form.
  • SMS subscription and consent records: if you use a dedicated SMS sign-up page and affirmatively check its optional consent box before submitting, the site records the mobile number, name, optional email, selected message program, the disclosure text/version presented, the source page, the submission date and time, and limited technical information used to document the submission. Leaving the consent box unchecked does not create an SMS opt-in record.
  • Technical and security data: our hosting environment may record IP address, browser or device information, page requests, timestamps, and error or security events in ordinary server logs.
  • Service and transaction information: if you choose to enter into a paid engagement or transaction, information reasonably needed to administer that engagement or transaction may be handled under the applicable service terms and the relevant payment provider's terms.

Please do not submit Social Security numbers, FSA ID or StudentAid.gov passwords, one-time authentication codes, full bank credentials, or sensitive medical or disability records through ordinary website forms or email.

3. How information is collected

We collect information that you enter into our website forms, send to us by email, or provide when contacting the business. We may also receive basic technical information from the web server when your browser requests a page. If you choose to use a third-party website, payment service, or official government resource linked from our website, that party may collect information directly under its own policies.

4. How we use information

We use information for legitimate business purposes connected to the reason it was provided, including to:

  • respond to questions and requests for contact or support;
  • provide and administer a service you separately request or agree to receive;
  • administer SMS preferences and, where an eligible messaging program is activated, send the specific text messages for which you opted in;
  • record consent and honor opt-out or suppression preferences;
  • maintain business records and handle inquiries, complaints, or disputes;
  • protect the website, detect abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve site operations; and
  • comply with legal obligations and protect legitimate rights and safety.

We do not treat a phone number supplied on a general inquiry form as SMS consent. SMS consent is collected separately on the dedicated sign-up form and applies only to the message program identified there.

5. Mobile information and SMS consent

USA Student Network provides separate SMS sign-up pages for Text Updates & Offers and Client Text Updates. To subscribe, a person must enter the required mobile number, affirmatively check the optional consent checkbox, and submit the form. The box is unchecked by default. A person is not subscribed by entering a phone number alone, and consent to one program does not automatically enroll the person in another program.

The website records evidence of the consent choice and the disclosure shown at signup. The website does not, by itself, transmit messages; any messaging service must be separately configured, and the message content must be permitted by the selected provider and applicable carrier requirements. See the SMS Terms & Conditions for message descriptions, frequency, rates, support, and opt-out information.

6. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

SMS opt-in data and consent include the fact that a person subscribed, the consent disclosure and version, and the associated subscription/consent record. We do not sell, rent, license, distribute, or provide those opt-in data or consent records to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Those records are maintained by USA Student Network to document the person's choice, administer preferences, and evidence compliance.

7. Other limited disclosures

We do not sell personal information. For ordinary website operations, we may disclose only information reasonably necessary to a service provider performing a limited function for us, such as website hosting, database hosting, website security, customer support, or payment processing for a transaction you choose to make. Such providers should use information only to perform the contracted function and not for their own independent marketing.

The previous section's prohibition on sharing SMS opt-in data and consent with third parties remains in effect. If an SMS program is activated, the mobile number and message-routing information necessary to transmit a message and process delivery or opt-out commands may be processed by the selected messaging provider and wireless carriers for those operational purposes. The stored consent record and consent evidence are not provided to third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

We may also disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or a government request, or is necessary to protect rights, safety, or security. Any business transfer will be handled subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information handled through the website, which may include access restrictions, secure connections, and measures to deter unauthorized form submissions. No internet transmission or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please use care when sending information online and do not send passwords, authentication codes, or full financial credentials through ordinary forms or email.

9. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide a requested service, document consent, honor opt-outs, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet applicable legal obligations. Retention periods may differ according to the type of information and the circumstances. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we intend to delete it or de-identify it, subject to legal and operational requirements. A limited suppression record may be retained where needed to respect an opt-out and prevent future unwanted messages.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you supplied, subject to applicable law, identity verification, and any legitimate need to retain certain records. You may decline SMS enrollment by leaving the consent box unchecked. If you have subscribed and wish to stop text messages, reply STOP to an active message where supported, or contact us using the details below. Stopping SMS does not automatically stop email or telephone communications you separately requested or that are otherwise permitted.

To make a privacy request, email info@usastudentnetwork.com with the subject “Privacy Request” or call 855-804-5720. Please do not email passwords, authentication codes, or full Social Security numbers. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify and respond to your request.

11. Cookies and technical logs

The website may use a session cookie when needed to maintain security features such as form tokens. The hosting environment may keep standard server logs for security, reliability, and troubleshooting. The current website package is not configured to intentionally load advertising pixels or third-party analytics by default. If analytics, advertising, or additional tracking tools are added, this policy and any required user choices should be updated to accurately describe them before use.

12. External websites and links

Our website may link to StudentAid.gov and other external websites. We do not control third-party sites, their privacy practices, or their content. Information you submit directly to another website is governed by that website's own privacy notice and terms. Review the relevant notices before providing information to an external service.

13. Children and eligibility

This website is not designed to target children. Do not submit information on behalf of a minor through an SMS sign-up form. Anyone subscribing to text messages must be legally able to provide consent in their jurisdiction, and the messaging program must be permitted by the selected messaging provider and applicable requirements.

14. Changes to this policy and contact information

We may update this policy when website features, business practices, or applicable requirements change. The date at the top of the page will be updated when a new version is published. We will provide any notice of material changes required by applicable law.
